Project brief
One of the photographer’s responsibilities is to analyse the surrounding factors in order to make sense of the setting. To convey a conceptual story, this project entails taking photographs, editing them, and curating them. With the aim to establish visual links, the curated layout should include two fashion photos and three documentary photographs that emphasize elements like shape, texture, pattern, colour, and tonal value.
Deliverables
01. A curated series of five images
      • Three greyscale documentary images
      • Two greyscale or colour fashion images
Design Strategy
Focusing on pattern as the main photographic element and theme for this photography series, the aim was to capture hidden patterns in everyday life. Patterning and repetition can be found everywhere, in our clothing, our cupboards, in nature and in architecture. The strategy was for the fashion shots to work together inversely.
Processwork photography
In the first fashion shoot the back wall with the lines of bricks was used as the pattern. The subject was dressed in white to create contrast and a break in the background pattern. For the second photography shoot the subject would become the pattern. The background was kept plain with clean lines, while the subject was the main focus and her blouse formed the pattern of the image.
Final images
Greyscale documentary images
Greyscale fashion images
The final curation
The final curation was placed in a way so that groups of images would not form. The aim was to create a seamless curation that leads the eye back and forth without getting stuck on a specific visual element. The pattern is seen in the repetition of elements in the scenes.
